Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is a concept that integrates different modes of transportation into a single platform, making it easier for people to plan and pay for their trips. To help the spread of MaaS in Europe, legislative changes such as open data standards, interoperability, and simplified regulations could be implemented. Financial incentives like subsidies or tax breaks for MaaS providers and electric vehicles could also be provided. Public-private partnerships could be developed.
Requiring transportation providers to make their systems interoperable would allow passengers to use a single payment system for different modes of transportation, providing them with more options. This would enable them to choose the most efficient travel options by accessing all available mobility types and prioritize sustainability by configuring travel options.
